  • B.S.E. in Special Education/Elementary Education minor in English -  Westfield State College, 1975

  • M.Ed. in Special Education, Westfield State College, 1979

  • Doctoral Studies at Syracuse University , Leadership Program, Administrative Certification in N.Y. and MA.  ABD. 



Mary Lou's interests and background focuses on educational leadership and creating professional learning communities that are fully inclusive.  Currently she is Director of Student Services at McCann Technical School in North Adams .  She has taught at the elementary and high school level, and was Principal of Jowonio School in Syracuse , NY , a widely recognized model program for children with typical development and children with autism.  She has served as adjunct faculty at Westfield State College and Syracuse University .  

Mary Lou is an active member of The Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps (TASH), where she has served on various committees and presented at their national conferences.  Locally, she is a member of the North Adams Public School Committee, and has served on the boards of BFAIR and United Way.  She is presently most excited about being a founder and President of the Brooklyn Street Neighborhood Alliance (, a group that is working to retrofit a neighborhood and create a sustainable inclusive community.
