History, Political Science & Geography
We offer many ways to pursue interests in History, Political Science, and Geography. Students begin with a shared foundation of core courses before choosing a major or minor which builds knowledge in an area of expertise. The department offers a four year program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in History. Minor concentrations are available in Canadian Studies, Geography, History, Political Science, Public and Local History, and Women's Studies. Studying with our department provides you with the opportunity to formulate and research ideas, think critically, and express your thoughts in speech and in writing. This process prepares our majors for careers in a wide variety of fields. Many choose to teach, but many also move into the fields of public service, law, journalism, and business. Studying History at MCLA offers you the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of courses, work with dedicated faculty, learn in small classes, and pursue special experiences outside the classroom, such as travel courses and research conferences.
