Why Choose Psychology at MCLA?
MCLA’s psychology program combines foundational theory with hands-on experience through research, internships, and faculty mentorship. Students apply psychological concepts through real-world learning opportunities while preparing for graduate study or careers in human services, research, organizational, and educational settings including K-12 and higher ed.
Real-World Clinical Experience
Students have opportunities to gain experience in local schools and community organizations. They can also spend a semester working directly with children with autism through a cooperative program with the New England Center for Children under professional clinical supervision.
Publishing and Presenting Research
Students collaborate with faculty on research, co-author scholarly work, and present findings at regional and national psychology meetings. Many also join Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
Dedicated Faculty Mentorship
Small classes taught by published faculty allow students to work closely with mentors while conducting research and gaining internship experience.
