Scholarship Information

MCLA Honors Program offers scholarships for students who are members of the program to ease financial pressure on highly motivated and creative students, to encourage excellent students to remain in and complete the honors program, and to encourage and enable more honors students to pursue and complete Commonwealth Scholar theses.  In furtherance of that purpose, the scholarship is available to full-time students with a grade point average of 3.2 or better, with preference given to students who have demonstrated financial need. The Director of the Honors Program in collaboration with the Director of Financial Aid selects scholarship recipients from the applicant pool.

First, second, and third-year students enrolled in the MCLA Honors Program are encouraged to apply through the Financial Aid Office.  Applications must include:

  • A completed application form.
  • A concise writing sample.
  • This can be work produced for a class about any topic.
  • A letter of recommendation from a sponsoring member of the honors faculty.

Highly motivated and accomplished students are also encouraged to apply for internationally competitive scholarships and fellowships. Planning for these applications should begin early in a student’s college enrollment.
