July 12, 2021

MCLA’s Division of Graduate and Continuing Education (DGCE) will hold a virtual information session at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 15. The session will offer details about the College’s bachelor’s degree completion program, as well as its Network Security and Principles of Accounting certificates.

Community members interested in advancing their educational credentials by attaining a bachelor’s degree or an undergraduate certificate are encouraged to attend. This information session is free and open to the public, and representatives from each program will answer questions related to academics, the application process, education timelines, and more. This is an excellent opportunity for those who have made a resolution to further their education in 2021 to learn more about opportunities offered through MCLA.

MCLA’s Degree Completion program

The MCLA Degree Completion Program is designed for the adult learner seeking an accelerated, non-traditional pathway to completing their bachelor’s degree. Each program is conducted in a cohort-style learning format, in which students begin their course of study with a group of their peers and proceed through the program together. Classes are offered in the evening and online to help students balance work, family commitments, and their academic journey. Classes are offered one night a week at MCLA-Pittsfield, 66 Allen Street.

Students can earn a bachelor of science in business administration or a bachelor of arts in interdisciplinary studies. Students in the interdisciplinary program may focus on children, families, and society; leadership and business; health and human services; or may create an individualized plan of study with an advisor.

Certificate in Principles of Accounting

The Accounting Certificate is ideal for small business employees, those in career transitions, or those interested in building professional credentials. Aspiring bookkeepers and entrepreneurs will also receive academic benefits from this certificate. The program emphasizes skills using MS Excel, QuickBooks, and skills employers are seeking. The program may be completed in just over one year for students attending half-time. All courses in the certificate are eligible for transfer to MCLA’s Business Administration degree if graduates decide to pursue the degree. The program is a great alternative for students who may not be seeking a degree or CPA-preparation. Experiential, hands-on learning will be included in the program.

Certificate in Network Security

The Certificate in Network Security will provide participants with a strong, undergraduate-level foundation in networking, network security, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for computer networks. The Certificate in Network Security provides excellent preparation for a variety of career paths in business, education, non-profits, human services, or any endeavor that relies on networks and information technology.
