Art Courses

Our art courses start with a foundations approach centered on drawing, painting, design, sculpture and art history. Building on these skills and concepts, you can choose electives in figure drawing, book arts, landscape painting, and many other art methods. You will also develop your own artworks, and the depth of your own knowledge about the history of art, according to your career goals and interests. You can combine art-making with business experience through a double major or minor in Arts Management.

Art in the Field

Our ties to the flourishing arts community in the Berkshires facilitate involvement in cultural events, the exhibition of student artwork, and student internship placements in world-renowned cultural institutions such as MASS MoCA and The Clark. Get involved with MCLA's Arts and Culture (MAC) and MCLA Gallery 51, which offers exhibit space to local artists including MCLA faculty and students. Attend local art gallery openings and other cultural events and interact with the many professional artists, musicians, actors, and other performers who call the Berkshires home.
