Dear Campus Community: 

I am writing to provide you with an update on the presidential search process as we move forward with this important transition for MCLA. 

The Board of Trustees is in the process of identifying members from the campus community to serve on the presidential selection committee.  The committee will be comprised of members representing Trustees, Faculty, Staff, Students, and Alumni.  Although it will be the Committee’s responsibility to make a final candidate recommendation to the Board of Trustees, the broader campus community and representatives from the local region will have an opportunity to meet with finalist candidates and offer their input.  

The Board of Trustees will conduct a competitive selection process to identify and engage an executive search firm in order to conduct a nation-wide search for MCLA’s 13th President.  A Request for Proposals (RFP) from these firms will be posted on-line as of September 22, 2025. The search committee will provide periodic updates on the search process to the campus through direct e-mail messages and/or postings on a dedicated webpage for the search.    

We anticipate selecting an executive search firm later this fall with an anticipated position posting in December.  The goal is to identify a new President by late spring 2026 with a start date of July 1, 2026. 

The Board is committed to conducting a thorough and inclusive presidential search that will identify the next leader for MCLA. More details will be shared as the process develops.
