I joined the Education Department as an adjunct instructor in the fall of 2001, bringing thirty-five years of experience as a teacher and principal in the public school setting. A native of North Berkshire I attended schools in Adams, returning to my former junior high school forty years later as principal of that school, now known as C.T. Plunkett Elementary. Since retiring after twenty-six years as an elementary school principal, I have taught licensure courses at MCLA incorporating the elements of real life situations with academic pedagogy.
As a lifelong resident of the area, I am keenly aware of the many challenges residents face on a daily basis and am actively involved in local, civic and service organizations. I have two grown children and enjoy spending time with them and my three grandchildren.
My interests at MCLA focus on providing students with the tools they need to become successful teachers by helping them navigate the complex and ever changing elements of the profession. By understanding the practical components of teaching preparation, students can develop the necessary skills to thrive in their chosen profession.
